It is SO easy for doubt to creep in, sometimes when you least expect it. Everything’s going well one minute, then *bam!* there it is. I’ve written YA novels and picture books, and even the ones that are published or
soon-to-be published have me worried, never mind the ones I’m still working on. Then I remind myself how important it is to believe in my own work and not to lose faith in what I’m doing (easier said than done, right?). But if I don’t believe in it, then why should anyone else?
Every piece of writing you do is beneficial – accepted or rejected, it’s never a waste of time. Everything you read or write is learning, it’s improving. All we can do is move forward. So keep going and don’t worry about what anyone else is doing or what you think you should be doing just do what’s right for you. Work at your own pace, read lots, write lots, edit lots, and believe!
